Wileo

Senior engineers for systems that can't go down.

Wileo connects asset owners and contractors with vetted senior engineers in rail, OT and communications. Clients post projects and hire one specialist or a managed team; engineers find work, send proposals and get paid from escrow. I designed the website and both platforms.

The challenge

Hiring specialists for live systems is slow and risky.

Rail, OT and communications projects run on systems that can't stop. When an asset owner needs a signalling or SCADA specialist, finding one, checking them and agreeing a contract can take weeks. Senior engineers who want to work independently face the opposite problem: finding good projects and getting paid on time.

The approach

Make the next step obvious, for both sides.

I designed the website and two web apps as one product with one language. Each side lands on what needs doing today, and every payment shows where it is on its way.

  1. 01

One language, from website to app.

The same green, type, cards and photography run from the marketing site into both platforms. A client who reads the homepage recognises the app they sign into.

  2. 02

    Start with what's due.

Both dashboards open on the work that needs attention: a timesheet to submit, a milestone to approve, new proposals, an interview to confirm. Everything else sits one click away.

  3. 03

    Money you can follow.

Every payment has a named stage: held in escrow, under client review, pending transfer, paid. Both sides see the same stages, so there is less to chase.

UX research

Planning the work behind every step.

Before the screens, I did UX research for Wileo: personas for a consultant and a client, then a user journey map from sign-up to the final payment. For each step it shows what the client does, what the consultant does and what Wileo's own team has to do, so the founders could plan their operations alongside the product.

USER JOURNEY MAP

Three lanes, one journey.

Seven phases, from signing up and posting a project to timesheets, payment and the community. Each step lists the actions, feelings and opportunities, then the tasks for Wileo's team, like vetting CVs, checking each project's scope and matching consultants.

Part of Wileo's user journey map: lanes for the consultant, the client and Wileo's operations, with stories, actions, activities, feelings, opportunities and operation tasks for signing up, posting a project and inviting consultants

In action

From first visit to final payment.

WEBSITE

Find the right door.

The homepage speaks to both audiences: hire vetted engineers, or apply to work as one. Each side has its own page with how it works, the benefits and real answers to common questions.

Two Wileo website pages: the homepage with a rail photo, proof stats and cards for clients and engineers, and the Hire consultants page with a control-room photo, an industry browser and top consultants

CONSULTANT PLATFORM

Win the right projects.

Engineers search open projects by discipline, rate and location. A project page shows the scope, milestones and questions to answer. The proposal sets out terms, milestones and a cover letter, and My proposals tracks each one through shortlist and interview.

CLIENT PLATFORM

Hire with confidence.

Clients browse vetted consultants by discipline, experience and availability, and open a profile to see reviews and past projects. On their project they compare proposals, book an interview and send an offer. Payment is secured in escrow from the start.

DELIVERY AND PAYMENT

Submit, approve, get paid.

In the shared workspace the consultant submits each milestone and logs hours each week. The client reviews the work package or timesheet and approves it, and the payment is released from escrow.

Two Wileo contract workspaces for the same project: the consultant's view with milestones and a Submit work package button, and the client's view with the submitted milestone ready to review and approve

Design language

Calm, clear and built for engineers.

Wileo green marks actions and progress, with deep grey-green for text. Inter keeps tables, timesheets and long proposals easy to read. Photography shows real field work, and one set of cards, badges and buttons runs through the website and both apps.

Wileo style tile with the logo, the green and grey-green colours, Inter type samples, buttons, status badges, chips, a consultant card and a photo of engineers by a rail line

One product for both sides of the work.

I designed Wileo end to end: the marketing website, the consultant platform for finding and delivering work, and the client platform for posting projects, hiring and approving payments.
