Animals Egypt

Every pet gets its own store.

Animals Egypt is a pet care and pet shop app, built on El-Dokan, the client's e-commerce platform. Owners add each pet once, and the app shapes itself around that pet: its food, its vaccinations, its vets and its store. We were responsible for the mobile design experience.

The challenge

One app, many different pets.

A pet shop sells to people, but every purchase is for an animal. A family might have a beagle, two cats and a parrot, each with its own food, size and care. The app had to know which pet the owner is thinking about, and help with more than shopping.

The approach

Start with the pet, then the products.

I designed the app around a profile for each pet, so everything else follows from it.

  1. 01

    A profile for every pet.

Adding a pet takes four short steps: name and type, age, activity and fur, then breed. A chip at the top of Home switches the whole app to another pet.

  2. 02

How the pet is doing, at a glance.

Home asks 'How's Mesho today?' and answers in one card: his mood, why, and a reorder link when food runs low. Then the next vaccination and the days of food left.

  3. 03

A store made for that pet.

Each pet has its own store, picked for its type and age, with a 'Good for Mesho' check on the product page. At checkout, owners can also send the order to an animal shelter.

In action

A week with Mesho.

ONE HOME PER PET

How's Mesho today?

Home answers how the pet is doing. When food runs low, the mood card turns red with 'Getting hungry' and a reorder link, and the food card moves first. The chip at the top opens every pet in the house, and any animal's store.

Three Animals Egypt screens: the home screen asking how Mesho is today with a card saying he is feeling happy and his next vaccination, the same screen with a red card saying he is getting hungry, one day of food left and a reorder link, and a sheet listing Mesho, Floyd and Angel with an add a pet option

ADDING A PET

Four steps to a profile.

From a new account to a ready profile: name, type and sex; age and life stage; activity and fur; breed, with search. Each answer tunes Mesho's store and reminders.

TAKING CARE

Vaccines, reminders and vets.

Mesho's profile keeps his details and his vaccinations, with the next dose marked in red. Reminders go out three days before, and the nearest vets show distance, opening hours and a call button.

Three Animals Egypt screens: Mesho's profile with his age, breed and vaccinations, the vaccinations list with a reminder set three days before at 9 AM, and a list of nearby vets with distance, opening hours and call buttons

SHOPPING FOR MESHO

From his store to the door.

Mesho's store shows food and treats for an adult beagle. The product page confirms the fit, the cart and a two-step checkout keep it short, and tracking shows the order on its way.

Designed around the pet, not the catalogue.

We were responsible for the mobile design experience of Animals Egypt: pet profiles and the pet switcher, a home that says how each pet is doing, vaccinations and reminders, nearby vets, and a store and checkout made for each pet.
